Seamless integration
Much work has been done to ensure ease of integration of the AudioScope into customer’s existing, installed and pre-commissioned systems. With all the most commonly used outside broadcast equipment found in studios and in OB-vans, the Audioscope can be installed with a minimum of time and effort. The system may also be set up to be driven by a LTC signal from up to five EVS systems.

The AudioScope
is composed of one or more microphone arrays, a signal distribution unit, a signal processing unit and a data storage system. In the middle of the microphone array there is a wide-angle camera providing live video to the operator interface. The massive signal processing power provide real-time processing of audio from hundreds of microphone elements in each array.

The system incorporated a highly intuitive user interface consisting of a control panel and a monitor. The live picture from the integrated camera is displayed on the monitor and the operator simply uses the trackball to point at where to zoom and capture the sound. It’s all designed for easy and intuitive live in extremely hectic outside broadcast production situations.

Key functions:

  • High directivity. Attenuates out-of-focus sounds by up to -30 dB.
  • Real-time zoom. For zooming in on those players or parts of the field where the action is.
  • Post-event zooming for replay. Full functionality in post-processing which means that the producer can go back in time and capture and re-focus on any incident.
  • Multiple static sound regions. For instance: listening to comments from the coaches bench.
  • Integration with vision equipment. Coordinating with camera lens focus and zoom.
  • Multi-channel system for 5.1 surround sound for HDTV.
