Squarehead and Reach Remote launch acoustic pilot onboard autonomous vessel
Squarehead Technology has entered into an Early Adopter Pilot agreement with Reach Subsea to deploy our acoustic monitoring technology onboard Reach Remote 1, one of the world’s first remote-operated uncrewed surface vessels.
The pilot will test how advanced acoustic sensing and AI-based analysis can improve condition monitoring and situational awareness in autonomous maritime operations. The system will be integrated with Massterly’s Remote Operations Center, enabling real-time monitoring from shore.

«Militær» lyttestråle skal overvåke motorrom
In this article by Kystens Næringsliv, the use of acoustic technology for monitoring ship engine rooms is highlighted as a promising innovation for the maritime sector.
The article describes how a focused acoustic “listening beam” can be used to monitor machinery without the need for physical sensors mounted directly on equipment. By analyzing sound patterns, our technology can detect anomalies and early signs of faults, enabling more proactive and predictive maintenance.
For us at Squarehead Technology, this represents an important step in bringing advanced acoustic situational awareness into new domains. Engine rooms are complex, noisy, and often difficult to access, making them well-suited for non-intrusive monitoring solutions like ours.
As highlighted in the article, transferring proven defense technology into civilian applications opens up new opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability in maritime operations.

Poland tests Norwegian acoustic drone detector
Squarehead Technology’s Discovair G2+ acoustic drone detection system has been tested by the Polish Armed Forces as part of ongoing counter-drone evaluations under the “Eastern Shield” program.
The trials took place at the Ustka training range, where multiple systems are being assessed to address emerging drone threats. Discovair G2+ was included as a passive acoustic solution capable of detecting drones based on their sound signatures.
The evaluation forms part of Poland’s broader effort to strengthen its counter-drone capabilities, with significant investments planned in the coming years.

Squarehead Technology featured in Teknisk Ukeblad
In this article by Teknisk Ukeblad, Squarehead Technology highlights the growing importance of acoustic drone detection in modern security environments. Driven by the increased use of drones in conflicts such as Ukraine, the need for reliable and discreet detection solutions has become more critical than ever.
Squarehead’s solution uses passive acoustic sensing to detect incoming drones without emitting signals, making it invisible to adversaries. The system, built around advanced microphone arrays and on-board processing, can identify and classify drone threats in real time while avoiding the limitations of radar and RF-based systems.
The article also emphasizes that acoustic technology complements existing sensor systems and has applications beyond defense, including civilian security and critical infrastructure protection. With over 20 years of experience in acoustic innovation, Squarehead continues to position itself at the forefront of next-generation situational awareness solutions.

Squarehead brings “superhearing” to ships
In an article, Squarehead Technology highlights how its acoustic sensor systems are enabling ships to “hear” their surroundings and internal systems in new ways. By combining advanced microphone arrays with AI, vessels gain a form of digital “superhearing” that improves both safety and operational insight.
The technology allows early detection of mechanical issues in engine rooms and enhances situational awareness at sea by identifying and localizing critical sounds such as alarms, collisions, or nearby vessels. This is especially important as shipping moves toward reduced crews and autonomous operations.
By complementing traditional sensors like radar and cameras, acoustic monitoring provides reliable, all-weather awareness and supports safer, more efficient maritime operations, both onboard and from remote control centers.
